Born in New York City to Dominican parents, Smiley Rojas-Nunez spent years in the corporate world as an accountant before a single decision changed everything.
In 2018, he sat his first 10-day silent meditation retreat. The silence gave him clarity — and the courage to leave behind everything he knew. He moved to Mazunte, Mexico, a small magical town on the Oaxacan coast, where the jungle meets the Pacific.
There, he found his voice. Not just as an artist — as a channel. What emerged was something he calls Medicinal Hip-Hop: bilingual verses that weave English and Spanish, carrying messages of self-love, ancestral wisdom, healing, and transformation.
Eleven silent retreats deep, Smiley is now an active force in his community — holding connection ceremonies, leading dance, and performing live across the Americas. His music is not entertainment. It's medicine.
